Cat Ate Onion Skin... Time To Freak Out?

So, I am aware onions are bad for cats. My husband made some stock last night, using yellow onions. I thought I had cleaned it all up, but just a few minutes ago, while moving something on our kitchen counter, a tiny (like dime sized) piece of onion.. skin/peel/the paper like outside, flew onto the floor and my healthy 3 year old cat gobbled it up. Of course I freaked out, but I don't want to make a run to the ER vet if that tiny, dime size paper onion bit is nothing to worry about. I know if I call the ER vet they will just tell me to come in, because they don't want to give advice over the phone.

So thoughts?...

Thanks!

Meh.. well, I decided to call the ER vet because if I didn't, I would not be able to sleep tonight.

Surprisingly they didn't say omg bring her in right away. The tech asked the vet, and the vet said if it was just the papery bit and not the fruit of the onion, she should be ok. But I can bring her in to vomit if I want to be sure. I don't think I need to, though I am sure I'll be freaking out and watching her like a hawk for the next 24 hours to make sure she is ok.

I thought that if you called the ER that they would give you advise on that.
If it were me, I would call my regular vet as soon as they open, and ask the same question. I think you'll get a confirmation, and that will help you to relax a bit.

My Cat Fancy calender for today says that onions and garlic will only cause temporary anemia, but that grapes and raisins can cause kidney failure in pets, so hope that helps.
