Cassie 8/2-4

Yesterday, 8/1/2013, was the 2-year anniversary of Cassie's dx with FD. It's been a long, crazy ride. When he was first diagnosed, he had gone from 16+ pounds to just under 9 pounds. He was free-fed CatChow Indoor cat formula, and he was never very social--so I kept kicking myself for not noticing he was sick until it was so bad. He came home with Prozinc and things went fine (I'm diabetic myself, so needles weren't a problem) for about ten days--then he went into ketoacidosis. Back to the vet, which doesn't have someone there 24 hours. About this time I found FDMB and started reading. A couple days in, they found him comatose in the morning. I was prepared to say goodbye, but he wasn't giving up. We drove to the local vet school (1 1/2 away) (what if he crashes while I'm driving there? he won't. he did.) Eight days and a small fortune later he came home. My antisocial boy has become a lap cat who comes running when I sit in the recliner (whether or not it's test time). Yes, it's expensive and annoying to keep track of his blood sugar (I keep better track of his than mine)--but he's worth it.

Meh. Didn't want to go too high due to yesterday's highjinkd, but obviously this wasn't enough.

What a change, from 2 years ago, being an antisocial dude to a lap cat. We never like to see our cats become diabetic, but the home testing does seem to bring many a caregiver and cat closer together.

I have no clue what he's doing.

Well, me neither. Doesn't look like enough insulin but you got that late green the other day. Can you get a mini curve today to see whar else he is doing? Nothing else different - not constipated or feeling crummy. You started a new vial lately, right?

Guess it's just sputtering P. Sometimes 0.6u is enough (or too much), sometimes 0.8u isn't enough. He seems to be fine. A little confused because I moved the test spot (recliner messed up, waiting for company to check for warranty since I've only had it 4 months) but otherwise okay. New vial about 2 weeks ago.
