Hi all!

Well, I've had Casey on 2.25u for a week and a half, and oddly her numbers are going UP, not down!

What could be the reason? Her numbers were better when she was on 2 units. Her eating habits haven't changed...I'm stumped!

Also, I've had her on Zobaline for more than a month now and her neuropathy hasn't improved. I'm crushing up the tablet and adding it to her meals along with her Miralax. Should I not be doing that? Or should I just be patient?

Thanks for any advice! Hope everyone has a great evening!

Heya!

So how's Casey doing? So sorry that I haven't been around all week....things have been getting crazy busy at work and I would come home and just be comatose on the couch eek! Did you end up increasing? If no, have the numbers still been so high?

If Casey were my kitty, I would probably raise the dose by another 0.25 to see if I can get better numbers. You've held the 2.25 for pretty much 2 weeks now. I know I don't have to tell you to make sure that you test, because the numbers will most likely get into the greens with the raise...or at least hopefully will!!

With the neuropathy, it was just over a month for Kitten to show improvement. Maybe 6 week or so? But it was a 180 change overnight kinda thing. Ok maybe not a full 180, maybe a 170 lol. He went from being the same, same, same same same...to bam! One morning we heard him galloping around the house and it's been uphill since then! Amazing. No slowly getting better, just one overnight flip. But of course ECID for this kinda thing. Not sure about it being taken at the same time as Miralax since i have no experience with that. Kit was taking a 5mg tablet each morning (actually he still is). He was pretty good that we didn't have to crush it...we just stuck the entire pill in his food and he would eat it - we did it that way b/c everytime we would crush it more would end up stuck to the knife (that we used to crush) or on the counter, etc. That was our issue. I never knew which way was better, so we just stuck with our way and hoped for the best.

Let us know what the update is! :)

I suppose there could be any number of reasons that the numbers are not coming down, and it could be that he's not feeling well, or the insulin is not as fresh, or maybe just his pancreas needs a bit more help.
Why not try to increase to 2.5u when you are around to watch and test Casey? it could be as simple as Casey needing just a bit more insulin.

I can't say anything on the zobaline, as none of my cats had issues, but I was giving them B12 shots weekly fro other issues including inflammation. If you are not see any improvement at all, maybe you can check with your vet on some suggestions.

Thanks for the responses! :-D

I had out of town guests all weekend, so I couldn't do a curve as I wanted to do. Casey's numbers have gone back to being mostly pinks, which is frustrating.

I think I'll take the advice and bump it up to 2.5 and see what happens. Casey seems to be doing fine otherwise, except for the neuropathy she seems fine! Purring, peeing, pooping, eating, drinking normally. Huh!

I'll start her on 2.5u tomorrow and see how it goes. Thanks for the advice, everybody!!

Just curious but what's the vet say about the neuropathy?

Good luck on the dose increase; I hope you start to see some better numbers.

Hi,

Junior is still on Zobaline, he started last summer, 1 5mg tab every am, crushed by my fingers in his food.
it took a few weeks, but he went from almost dragging his hind legs to walking, going up & down the stairs, and after another month or so, he could jump on the couh, and even the bed over the winter.
I still give it to him every morning because I don't want him to have that again.

hope this helps.

Oh, I haven't asked her yet. I figured I should get Casey closer to normal numbers first, and see if that takes care of it.

Thanks for asking though, I'll be sure to let y'all know!
