Hi everybody,

I did a curve on Casey over the weekend, and for the first time I got consistent readings in the 100s. Yay!!!

She did seem a little down energy-wise, could this be her body adjusting to a healing pancreas? Also, are ketones still a threat, or is that just in very high numbers?

Further bulletins as events warrant!

I'm liking the last two days with no purple! Go Casey!

:-D She had a little purple yesterday, but this morning tested a pretty reasonable 230.

She doesn't seem to be eating as much, though, and I'm wondering if that's a natural part of her pancreas getting better, or something else. Anybody have any ideas? She seems pretty happy otherwise, and is peeing and pooping normally...

All I know from my experience is that Kit began eating less once his numbers got better. Now that insulin is working.

I know you asked about ketones...I actually am not too sure. I've read in other condos that ketones are not necessarily only a problem with high numbers....but I'm not too sure myself. Hopefully someone can jump in and give you more advice :)

When it comes to ketones that really comes down to that ECID (every cat is different) some cats will have them in 200s others won't get them even if they are in the 400s and no one seems to know why some get them and some don't.

However, if a cat has ever had DKA they are more likely to get ketones than if they have never gone into DKA.

Sorry haven't been on the board much in the last couple of days as it is 70 degrees here and Spring cleaning in full swing around here.. :-D

Just got home from work and tested, and Casey's at 270.

It's interesting that her numbers tend to go down during the weekend, and up during the week. Really nothing's different except during the week I'm gone most of the day, and during the weekend I give her a little food when I draw her blood - maybe the constant snacking is keeping her BG down during the day? I do leave food out for her while I'm gone, but I don't know if she snacks or just eats it in one big gulp!

It'll be interesting also to see what Casey's BG is at +10, she just ate a potato chip that fell on the floor...
