? carb question?

Apologies in advance if this is a stupid question!

If I were to mix zero carb kibble and 16% carb kibble in equal proportion, would the mixture be equivalent to 8% carb kibble? Does it work that way?

Here is the link to your previous post here. http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/...-474-3-420-8-513-pmps-380-3-240-5-220.223499/

You asked this question in a PM. So I am responding here.
I feel like Bandit's sugar is only increasing with higher doses! when we started out, i thought even 1 unit twice a day would be too much for her. and now we are at 1.75!

Does this happen with some cats?
Not sure why you thought 1 unit would be too much. We have seen cats on as high as 5.5 units with being on low carb wet but stealing another cats dry food. And that same cat went into remission when the dry was removed from the house. High carb dry food is bad stuff for a diabetic.

Also keep in mind that insulin is a hormone, not a drug. It’s not like you add a little bit, and numbers get a bit better. You have to keep increasing, in a safe manner, until you hit a breakthrough dose.

When we first started Bandit on Lantus, she had several low numbers in the first week. She's never been that low since. In fact, she rarely falls below 200 now and her pre-shot numbers are only going up. I realize the carb-laden kibble hardly helps, but I was wondering why her numbers are only going up.

Would you have any inputs on my carb question? Does simple arithmetic work when mixing zero carb and high carb kibble to yield medium carb kibble?

Regarding initially seeing better numbers in the beginning, then having those good numbers fade away - yes, not uncommon.

I don't know about kibble carbs math. Reducing the amount of HC carbs should reduce the number of carbs overall, but I don't know if it’s a straight line formula.
