Another post for me today...

To try to encourage Moritz to eat, I've been thinking about trying baby food temporarily. Tanya's CRF site lists the phosphorus content of several varieties -- is there a chart that lists carbohydrate content?

Thank you!

Re: Carb content in baby food?

As far as I know, there's not chart for carb content. Beechnut is zero carbs -- it's either on their website or on the jar. Gerber Stage 2 is roughly 7% carb -- it contains cornstarch.

Re: Carb content in baby food?

I believe Gerber also has onion powder in it which can cause Heinz body anemia. Most of us go for the Beechnut baby foods.

Hope --

The Gerber Stage 2 is a protein, broth, and cornstarch (unless they changed the ingredients). Bottom line is to read the label.

Thanks for your input!

Do you know if any of the Stage 1 Beechnut meat varieties contain onion or garlic or onion or garlic powder? If the label says "beef broth" for example, does anyone know if onions/garlic are in the broth?

Same thing for Gerber: if the label lists "chicken broth" or "chicken gravy", does anyone know if onions/garlic are in that?

Thank you!

I happen to have a few cans of those right now as back up yummy food if one of the civies is sick  There meat in broth varities do not contain any garlic or onions. The only ingredients are the meat and the meat broth. I haven't tried the ham/ham broth one. Ham tends to be salty and I worry about giving unneeded salt to a cat.

No onions or gravy but they do contain cornstarch to make the gravy. Starches of any kind can result in high bgs in a diabetic cat.

All of the meat formulas are meat with gravy. I don't see any that is in broth.
