Hi, everybody!

First, I would like to apologize: I'm French, and my English isn't at the level of my willingness to stabilize my cat ;)

From yesterday evening, I am doing a "live curve" with my vet: I do home testing of Capoo, which was still unthinkable a few days ago, but that's another story....

So yesterday morning, 8AM, Capoo received a shot of 8 UI of Caninsulin (Vetsulin).
I went to the vet at 6PM, and he was around 200 mg/dL , 10 hours after the shot.
And so, yesterday evening, we decided with my vet to draw a "live blood curve": I test my cat at home, send directly the results to my vet via SMS, and he tells me what to do.

And here below are the results:
Yesterday:
397 @ +12,5
429 @ +14,5. At that time, my vet asked me to inject 5 UI. So lets say that it is the PMPS
Today:
AMPS at 8AM (so only 10 hours from PMPS): 370 mg/dL. My vet asked me to inject 6 UI.
215 @ +3
277 @ +8
420 @ +11.5. My vet asked me to inject 7 UI for the night. He also asked me to test Capoo tomorrow, at 8AM (AMPS, and to give him 7 UI), 12AM, 3PM, 6PM and 9PM. Each time, I have to text him the results.

Last week, my vet succeeded in having the first blood curve of my cat at his office. My cat hasn't ate anything when he was at the vet, and the results were:
AMPS : 550 mg/dL. Injection of 8UI
+2.5 : 481
+6 : 140
+8 : 88
+9.75 : 103.

Does it inspire you? Any advice on how to regulate my cat? My vet will not be available every day and every night to tell me the suitable dose to inject :cat:

Caninsulin/Vetsulin typically only lasts 8-10 hours with the loweest BG between 4-5 hours after injection.
Curves performed at the vet frequently are not representative of normal, at home BG since vet stress can raise BG. However, that does not seem to be the case last week since the 88 was 8 hours after shot.
What are you feeding and does Capoo eat the same amount at the same time?

I don't know if you have managed to find information about using Caninsulin (Vetsulin) on this site yet, so I'm including the link to it:

I wonder if the 88 at the vet was due to Capoo not eating while he was there. I think that would result in a lower than normal reading.

I'll also suggest that when you post you mention in the title that you are using Caninsulin (Vetsulin). It may bring more replies.

Hi,

So, yesterday evening, I injected 7UI @ 8PM.
This morning, at 7AM (+11), his BG was at 291 mg/dL.
I retested him at 9AM (+13), and he was at 414 mg/dL. At that time, I injected 7UI.
I have texted the results to my vet, and he thinks that his appropriate dose is 7 UI twice a day.
So, we will try with this dose for 8 to 10 days, to see how it works.
Of course, my meter is handy in case of any trouble.
Larry, Capoo eats Orijen since Friday evening. I don't know if your heard about it, but it is a Canadian brand.
I try to keep his bowl always full: we are trying to get him to lose weight, and my cat is really subject to the stress of the empty bowl... :). When his bowl is full, he doesn't eat so much, but as soon as the bowl is emptying, my cat starts to behave as a Caterpillar, if you know what I mean...

If Capoo is not eating the same about of food at abut the same time each day that can cause wide variations in BG. Was it that during the vet curve that Capoo did not each betteen shots?

Capoo's mom, though I've never used your insulin, it seems like a good idea to keep to a regular dose for a while to see how it works. Do get some tests in midway between shots to track her lowest readings and to make sure she doesn't go too low. (BTW, your English is very good!)
