Hey all! Everyone has been so amazing helping me on Mikey's FD journey that I want to ask some opinions on another of my furbabies, Jesse James (named after the outlaw, not Sandra Bullock's lowdown ex). He had a full urinary blockage in August 2010, which was cleared by catheter. At the time, he was prescribed Royal Canin Urinary SO, which is supposed to help break up crystals and stop their formation. At first, he would only eat the dry, but now I've got him on the canned version. It's better than the dry, but does have carbs. For some reason, I can't access the page with the product info right now. But it seems to work. We've had no issues since and at last vet check, no significant crystals. I kind of hate to change anything.
But, is there really a benefit to this diet over a low carb canned diet? What really causes crystals, and are there other ways to prevent them through diet?
