I feed my cats Friskies. Look for the loaf varieties and avoid anything with gravy in the name.

I supplement my civies' raw with Nature's Variety Instinct and once in awhile Weruva.
That particular Avoderm variety contains rice flour and oat brand which may affect bgs. The 3 ounce cans are grain-free but they are in gravy which typically means high carbs. Ther Wild by Nature ones are all seafood but look to be ok as a once in awhile treast.
I don't know if Avoderm still has it or just renamed it, but what was called the Select Cuts line was ok for diabetics to eat. I remember a few people on the old board who fed it. My diabetic didn't care for it. The chicken was strangely bright pink in a gloppy clear-ish gravy and had a strong off-putting smell. I'm in the process of switching Bandit to EVO (95% varieties) from Fancy Feast. I think the food is awesome, he acts less hungry, LOVES the food and his coat is starting to look amazing. He's also dropping a *tiny* bit of weight, which he needed anyway, and he looks fantastic. I decided to switch when I realized that my local feed store was selling it for $1.75 for 13.5 oz cans, and I was paying $.50 for 3 oz of Fancy Feast. So the better quality food ends up being cheaper after I do the math.

I agree about quality - I only like to feed higher quality - neither of mine like Evo at all.. both are picky so I do my best ;-)
I wish they were both on raw only - but we have tried many times & only one likes it :roll:

Wow, even the 95%? Bandit goes nuts for the duck and the venison. Merricks also makes a high quality 96% food, called Before Grain: http://www.merrickpetcare.com/store/bg_canned_cat_food_32.php. Maybe they'll like that one? Gabby would never eat Evo unless it was mixed with something else, but she loved the Merrick's BG. And the Cowboy Cookout and Surf-n-Turf flavors of their regular food (both are ok for diabetics).

EVO is good but a bit high in fat. Not much of a concern unless your cat is prone to pancreatitis. It's thought that high fat foods aggravate the condition and makes a cat really uncomfortable and nauseous.
I fed my diabetic EVO, among other brands. I think EVO comes in the large 12 (13?) ounce cans as well which makes it more budget friendly for multi-cat households.
Some stores still sell the old 100% supplement only Before Grain cans right alonside the new 96% nutrionally complete ones. The labels look very similar so be double check before you put the cans into your cart/basket.
