Can you tell how Leko's doing?

I've been trying to gather more data to figure out where we're at. Leko's thyroid came back too high again and the vet increased his Methimazole dose starting Saturday night. Lantus still at .5u 2x per day. He's still peeing a lot.

Added food notes to his spreadsheet.

Does his spreadsheet tell you anything? It just looks like we're all over the place to me. What data would help to clarify things? Do I need to try harder to get a +6-7 number? I'm trying hard to be consistent with insulin timing. Where to go from here...?

Leko's last thread in case it's helpful: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=60839

Thanks :)

There is barely 2 weeks of data on the spreadsheet.

Based on what you've got so far, if his appetite was steady, I'd consider raising the Lantus 0.25 units. You have to 'eyeball' it, estimating halfway between the same side of the 2 lines - 0.5 and 1.0 - on a syringe with half unit markings.

It looks like you are having an occasional issue with appetite, which could make raising the Lantus a risky proposition. If the appetite issue is frequent, you might be better off with an insulin you could dose based on the pre-shot level, such as ProZinc or PZI.

We are giving him 3/4 of a can 2x per day to try to get him to gain weight, even though he'd probably eat only 1 can per day if his weight was OK. So that complicates things a little. Adjusting flavors for AM vs PM seems to have helped. I'm also going to probably try another flavor. He seems to get tired of the canned flavors. Maybe I'll try 1/2 can plus an extra tablespoon or something. I'll keep working on making the food more consistent.

As an fyi - without enough insulin, he won't be able to absorb the extra calories.

Can you get a curve in? Basically, take a day and then from pre-shot to pre-shot, test every 2 or every 3 hours? That'd let us know how he does through a cycle, and he's been on the same dose long enough that a curve would determine a dose increase.
