OK, we've only been doing this a few days, so... there's not a lot of data.

He's on Novalin, which I need to change, but haven't yet. 1.5 U.

When I feed him Fancy Feast, his morning numbers are all in the 100s. So I don't give him a shot because he's under 200, but then his evening numbers are super high. Right now it's 448! (He's eating dinner now, so doesn't have his shot yet. it'll be 1.5 soon.)

Friskies didn't seem to give him the low numbers at all, so I think FF is helpful... but 448 is bad. I know he needs a curve, but I've seriously been gone and exhausted by the time i get home every night. I'll try to add a few random mid-day/night numbers in this week, but this is what I've got now. Do I just continue as is?

You might want to try 1U instead of 1.5U so you can get both shots in without having to skip so often

Once you have a better testing routine down, you can shoot lower than 200, but only if you can test until you have a lot more data on how he responds

Doing 1 should... COULD even him out a little more? I mean... I wish he'd stay at those morning numbers all the time! lol OK. He's gotten his shot for tonight, but I might play around tomorrow.

Well if you keep getting Pre-shots that are too low to shoot, the answer is usually to reduce the dose so that you're able to give two shots per day

Ok, thank you! Tomorrow will be the day! (I'm glad I'm home testing through his food change from high carb that his brother needed. When I asked about reducing his insulin, she said it could be a good idea, but she wanted me at 2. I had that gut feeling to go lower. I'm glad I did! Can't wait to get him stable then show her the numbers!)
