Can Insulin make a cat sick to their stomach?

Ever since I started my cat on BCP PZI insulin she vomits and she has never vomitted before. Is it possible that the insulin could be making her sick to her stomach? Before BCP PZI she was on PZI Vet and never had no problem. Thank you and any comments would be helpful!

It's possible - I haven't heard of that before. Do you test at home? I am wondering if the new insulin is giving her lower or higher numbers and that is making her feel off? When is the vomiting and what does it look like? How often? (if she is vomiting daily, I'd go to the vet to see if something else is off)

No chance in food or treats?
 
My cat Henry just started on the BCP PZI last month when we were not able to get his regular ProZinc insulin.
I haven't noticed any vomiting or seeming sick to his stomach.
Only thing I have noticed different is he seems to be fussier and protesting more when I give his injection and wonder if this insulin stings more.
Is it possible the BCP PZI is lowering his BGs more and that is the reason he is getting sick?
 
How long has this been going on? And what sort of dose are you giving? Bob was on compounded PZI the whole time he was on insulin, but never had any vomiting problems (VPA PZI, and not BCP PZI but they're basically the same thing). Has her diet changed? Does she vomit no matter what type of food she eats?


When she was on PZI Vet, was it U40 concentration? And is the BCP PZI U40? (I ask because BCP PZI can be U100 also, although I've never seen anyone say that theirs was U100 that I can remember.)

Satin is 13 yrs old now and has been diabetic for 10 of them years, so I have been at this for a while. She has been on the BCP PZI for about a year now and about two weeks after I started it is when the vomiting started. I do home test and her BG's are always up and down, but they always have been, but lateley she hasn't been eating much as I think she is upset to her stomach so they have been lower and I have had to lower her dose. I use BCP PZI U40. She just had her yearly checkup about 6 months ago and the vet said she was doing good but had no answers for the vomiting. She vomits about once a week and it's usually what she ate last, but after she pukes all that up it's just saliva that comes up. Satin eats dry Evo and can food. I had her on Lantus for a while but she did terrible on it and got keytones as a result from it, so I do not want to go back to it. Thank you for your comments!
 
Maybe it is one particular food that is making her sick? I know my cat reacts to beef. If it is only once weekly or so, it seems like it could be connected to something she is eating during the time? Which wet food are you feeding? Maybe the formula has changed? It doesn't sound like a weekly hairball but you might try something for those.

It sounds like you have been around awhile so I assume you know that eliminating the dry might lower her bg levels. (Even Evo can raise levels) Lots of us eliminate the dry by using an automatic feeder to let them graze or we freeze the wet food and let it thaw while they eat.

While she is not feeling well is not the time to tinker with the dose, but if you want help in the future, we would be glad to try.
