Hobbs has always been bad about cleaning his ears and he has an ear infection currently. His BG levels are higher than "normal" for him. Still OK but he's usually in the upper 50s and 60s and he's tested in the 80s and 90s the last couple of days. He's already on medicine for it. I was just wondering if an ear infection (not mites) could perhaps inflate his blood sugar.

Thanks!!

i would say yes. anything that causes discomfort also causes some degree of stress, which raises bg levels

what medicine is he getting? if it has steroids in it it could also be raising the bg level some. it's hit or miss with the meds and the cat. some have had ear medicine that was steroidal effect their cat but when Mousie had hers, her medicine didn't touch her BG.

he's not anywhere near needing insulin of course but keep an eye on the levels just in case he goes there
