Jones seems to like duck and is getting a little tired of his Rawz Turkey and Chicken. Was looking for some duck.

He does have IBD so need to verify ingredients but something without gums would be great.

You have to ask the manager, don't let him deny it!

Canidae Pure duck pate- no added junk or glucose. It does have some pea powder though. My cat with IBD does really well on this. 99% of the time solid poops. Unfortunately it is very expensive.

Tracey, does Alburta-Land have Global Pet stores? They have some expensive cans of chicken that could pass for chicken salad, don't know about duck. Of course the more expensive the less likely they'll eat it. I haven't been in one for a long time (staff is annoying) but next week I see my chiropractor and the chicken is next door. I'll try and get some bar-codes and brand names for you. I'm all business today, sorry for being so glum. :(

Global Pet stores?

Yes we do! There is a really good one in Leduc that will bring in what you need. They started ordering a case of Rawz for me so it was on the shelf. Well now they have it on a consistent basis and more people wanted it! I go in and there is always a case of chicken and turkey waiting for me!

Pet Planet .... all young people that don't know what product they are selling.

I buy the Pure LID. He has IBD and at one time was diabetic but is in remission. His specialist considers him pre diabetic because his glucose is on the higher end of normal but not enough for insulin. This is the only food he eats. No treats and no dry. When I looked it up for carbs I found it was from 3% to 13%. It is listed I think on Dr. Lisa's chart, or another chart I was looking at - can't remember. The duck morsels are higher in carbs.

I use Nutro Soft Loaf Duck pate for Squallie and for my little girl with IBD; it's never been a problem for either of them (NO diarrhea with the IBD kitty, yay!!!), and it's only about 2.5% carbs. It does have guar gum and carageenan, but it's never seemed to be an issue for my guys.

Look out, was reading an article today about Gen Z entering the workforce!
Doesn't "workforce" imply working?
Tracey, you mentioned Leduc. You're not a south-side girl are you? Like Millwoods? That's a hard concept to grasp for someone that hasn't lived in Deadmonton. Northside boys don't date Southside girls, Eastend and Beverly are another planet, Riverbend is too far away, Castledowns is strange. Fort Skatch-e-wan is stranger. It is or had always been that way. 100 years ago when I was a courier and there were tiny houses in The Flats I delivered a demo tape to k.d. Lang's shack. It's probably a Walmart now. My favorite uncle still lives there. Are you really coming to Ontario?

@Noah & me (GA)

Raised in the hood North side..Wellington area. Moved away for awhile then came back to the North side. Then I met a man from Ontario and moved to the South side. Bonnie Doon area. We then bought a house in the Millweeds. Work in Nisku...so yes Oil and Gas before you ask.

We are thinking of coming out either this summer or next summer. We drive so we take a good 3 weeks. It all depends DH and his job situation.

I am open to raw...Jones not so much. Like the carb. Carageenan/gums seem to make his tummy upset.

Thank you! Will keep it in mind.

Shoot! Completely forgot to leave my duck recommendation: Primal has a duck version - frozen or freeze-dried. Not sure how you feel about feeding raw, but it's a similar consistency to pate.
Thank you for that! I have looked at that product before. Didn't know they had duck.

Carageenan can cause inflammation.
.

I thought I read somewhere that it was a possible carcinogen as well.

Either way I try to stay away from it. He does very well on Rawz. It uses ground bean as the glue. He has less loose stool and has gained a lot of weight while being on it.

That was one of the reasons I went with Canidae Pure because they advertise no carageenan. I guess it's hard to find a totally pure food unless you go with either making your own or raw-?
