My cat spade has been on 6 units of lantis for 3 years... now his blood has gone threw the roof. are there cats that just need alot more lantis to control the sugar level? ive had spade at 6 units for along time 2,5 years.. just today ive increased it to 9 units.. his test blood test today was 26.7........ i do my own blood tests..... ill monitor him ever 4 to 6 hours... ive been told it really won t normalize for 3 days... has anyone ever experienced this... i did get 2 responses last nite about his teeth could be the problem. im not counting that out he is 14 years old..male me giving him more lantis is a wait and see if his level comes down.. even a bit.. anyone have any other ideas......or have info that might help...ill be making a appointment to get his teeth cleaned.... on that note what are the risks of teeth cleaning. at his age? thank you for the advice ive received . Yes, the dose of Lantus can and does change with time; a dose does not stay constant.

You said you have been giving 6units a day for 3 yrs. Is that 6units total for the day? Have you been giving 2 shots of 3units each day or 2 shots of 6units each day? You increased to 9.5units- is that 9.5 units twice a day?

Where are you located? In your previous post, I had asked if you are in Canada or what city.

The 26.7 BG is pretty high, when did you take that test, was it at shot time or later on?
