Hi everyone
Just wanted to pop in and give a quick Calypso update.
She was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia at the end of May.
She went back to the cancer vet again yesterday. Her neutrophils were still really high, but her lymphocytes are back into normal range-this is the same as it was 1 month ago. The vet thought infection, most likely UTI even though she has no symptoms. Pulled some urine and she has a raging UTI. That's good news! We did a full chemistry panel and all other values (concerned mainly about liver and kidney) were all good so we sent out the urine to be cultured and put her on baytril in the meantime because the Dr thinks that it's most likely chronic. I told her that she had a clean urine test a month ago (when Korbel first got sick) and she said that a UTI can be hard to catch sometimes.
But the good news is that the UTI explains the high neuts and everything else is in normal range for a healthy cat. So Calypso is in clinical remission!! dancing_cat
I still take her back in one month for more blood work. I think the ultimate goal is to wean her off of prednisolone completely and have her on her chemo meds only once a week or so, but she will be on the chemo for life. I'm also hoping that I can back off of the monthly cancer vet visits pretty soon.
