Good Morning.
Yes-our schedule is all out of whack and we are just rolling out of bed....
At any rate, I checked my girl at 9:45 and she was 184.
Not 5 minutes later, she finally went to her box. She didn't go to the bathroom 1 time yesterday.
Anyway, so I got to check her ketones which read as negative.
But her glucose also read negative on the ketodiastix. :?

So now I am more confused than ever.
I had some control solution and checked the meter, and it's appears to be fine. I have had the control solution for quite some time, and I remember reading that it expires rather quickly.
My ketodiastix are not expired and have not been exposed to air, extreme tempetures or anything, but obviously something is out of whack.

Any suggestions.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I think the glucose only shows in urine when they have a lot of it & it's dumping into their system. 184 isn't that high so his body wouldn't be dumping or flushing it (I guess that's what they call it).

Nothing to report.
New vet is GREAT! Was very impressed with Callie Mae's spreadsheet. The assistant has a diabetic cat and wanted to know how I knew so much. I told her about you guys of course. I could hear them talking outside the room and heard them saying how amazing it was I was able to get her regulated and OTJ just by diet changes. They wondered how many other diabetic cats could benefit from just switching! The assistant is going to check out this website, she said.
As far as my sugar baby, they checked her bg, which of course, was high. (Not terribly so, but considering her norm, it's high, plus vet stress factor). Her heart sounds good, lungs are good. Everything "appears" fine. Couldn't get any urine, so couldn't rule about a possible onset of UTI. Was told just to keep an eye on her over the next couple days and if her numbers continue like they are, just dose her with what I'm comfortable giving her. Vet said she didn't want to just start her something. Wants me to watch her to see if she is having any signs of upper respiratory symptoms or maybe going in and out of the box like she needs to go potty. Kinda like us when we get a UTI and feel like we always have to go. Things along those lines. They were amazed at her past insulin doses. Curious how I could get .4, .6 or even .8 in a syringe. they couldn't believe it when I said I was using U100 syringes with U40 insulin. I totally made believers out of them.
Honestly, I think the exchange was equal. They were as impressed with me as I with them. not that they really had a lot to offer, just initial responses from the vet concerning her level of knowledge of FD. Maybe I don't have enough experience so I'm easy to impress. My last vet just seemed to disconnect when I told him I was doing things different than what he prescribed. This vet was very open and seemed eager to learn. to me, that's enough.
Anyway, enough rambling. I have nothing to report. I called in the prescription for a new vial of insulin. I will have it tomorrow.
Looks like I better get those shoes out of the back of the closet.

that is so refreshing to here a vet that will actually listen ;-) and pat you on the back for the good job you do :YMHUG: so glad callie mae checked out ok ;-)
