Callie's blood glucose has been going higher after we thought she was doing so well. I noticed on this bord that an infection can make it rise and is common in diabetic cats. My vet put her on Amoxicillin. It didn't help. She spent the night at the Vet's so they could find something that would work. While she was there, her blood sugar went up over 500. I think some of that is stress. They keep raising her insulin. Now they raised it from 4 units to 5. I am so worried about it dropping when the new antibiotic kicks in.

Vet stress may raise the glucose 100-180 mg/dL.
A culture and sensitivity on a urine specimen will identify optimal antibiotics to treat the infection.

She is home with her new antibiotic. I sure hope it works. I need to check her blood at 1:00AM to make sure it doesn't get too low.
