Okay! So much easier to figure things out.

So, the last cycle was long, right? You gave a shot at 20:30 last night and then one at 11:30 this am - at +15? If I am reading it right, that might explain why he was in the 300s.

Did you give insulin this am?

Yes, I gave it to him very late between consulting the vet, the hubby, and then finally deciding it was just too high. I just checked it at 11:30am but I didn't give any insulin.

So you haven't given any insulin in 15 hours, right? Are you thinking you will give some? If you do, can you test and shoot 12 hours from now?

One of the things that will really help is to figure out when you can consistently shoot 12 hours apart. It looks like you have shot early and late, and that confuses the picture and isn't using the insulin to its best advantage.

We expect a smile shaped curve with ProZinc. It starts at amps, dips down to its lowest point at nadir (usually around 6 hours after the shot) and then goes back up to a number in the same range at pmps.

8:30pm... to 11:30am... yep. My concern, as before, is now his BG isn't as insanely high as when I gave him 2u and I'm just afraid I'll make him too low. *pulls out her hair*

I know; I get it. In the beginning, it feels like you are just shooting and hoping. But the data collection makes this whole thing easier in the long run.

What do you think about restarting with one unit? Your 371 should be very safe for one unit. Can you plan to get a number in 6 hours or so and then shoot 12 hours from now? Then you can start fresh and see what a normal cycle on one unit looks like. If the numbers are too high, we can adjust. If he goes low (which shouldn't happen, but it could) then post with your number and we will guide him back up with food.

The only thing that would change that is if he had a big meal right before you got that number.

I will be around, off and on, for the rest of the day and will watch for you. If you are home and can, you might get a number 3 hours after the shot - just to see how it is working.
