Hi folks,

I need to buy needles for injecting B12 and expect if I get them from the vets they'll cost a lot.

They are monoject 1 ml with pink caps. Anyone know where I can get a good price?

Thanks much,
Jan

I too use insulin syringes to give B-12 (cyanocobalamin) shots.

Last I knew, the standard dose from the TAMU protocol was 250 mcg per shot. The bottles of cyanocobalamin I use are 1000 mcg per ml, so each shot of 250 mcg would be 1/4 cc.

On a 3/10 cc u-100 insulin syringe, you simply draw to the “25” mark.

I use 29 gauge insulin syringes for B-12 shots. The rubber stopper thing on the B-12 that I have is thicker than that on insulin vials/ pens and tends to bend the needles on the 31 gauge syringes I use for insulin injections. The typical B-12 dose for cats is 0.25 ml which is 25 units.

Think the monoject needles you're referring to might be 25 gauge which would be larger and more uncomfortable for the cat.
