Bupe dose double check

Hi all,

I have a friend with an 11.3lb cat that just had surgery and dental (with extractions) done. Vet gave bupe and told him .25ml BID. Does that sound correct? I would hate for him to give too much especially after all the poor kitty has been through.

ETA: a lump that is suspected cancer was removed from the hind area and kitty has stitches "half way around his body".

My Gwyn was 9 pounds when she had a very painful attack of acute pancreatitis. The vet put her on a dose of .25cc (1/4cc) [1cc = 1 mL] buprenex twice a day for most of that week. So the same dose sounds safe enough for an 11-pounder.

FWIW, I noticed that I had problems keeping Gwyn pain-free on that dose. The vet okayed it for me to give half the dose twice as often (.125cc four times a day), and that seemed to work better for us.
