This is a drug buying and form question.

My 14 yr old cat was on insulin for about six months in 2009, but we got him off with a diet change. Now he's IBD and my vet is suggesting Budesonide.

I understand it's not manufactured in small enough doses for small animals and that I'll probably have to buy the drug from a compounding pharmacy. My vet has mentioned Wedgewood where I could buy small tablets, or another pharmacy where I could buy the drug in a chewable flavored form.

I'd appreciate any insight anyone might have about experiences regarding the compounding pharmacies, the drug form and administering the various forms to the cat.

My cat takes pills really easily, as long as they aren't particularly bitter. A small piece of a Pill Pocket works like magic! He won't take a liquid well at all.

Thanks ever so,
Valyn (and Bunny)

When Radar was alive they compounded his Budesonide and I was very happy with the cost as compared to other compounding pharmacies.
