Buddy's high readings Help!!!!

I had a previous thread about Buddy's low readings, I just took his reading @ 9:48pm. and it was 582. I had taken it earlier and it was 315, I gave a shot of 1.5 insulin. Now it is so high, someone please help!!!!! His readings had been running low since Friday evening so I had been giving low doses. Is there anything I can do.
This looks like a bounce number. He's reacting to either a true low number, a lowish number he's not used to or a drop in BG that might have been faster than usual. There's nothing you can do right now. Record that BG and the number of hours past his injection that you got this number. You need to get a systematic BG testing routine under way ASAP. Otherwise, these various BG readings don't paint a full picture. The spreadsheet is what shows that picture.

Re dosing: you need that BG picture to see what's going on before changing dose haphazardly in response to individual BG tests.

This is what I wrote on your other thread:

Here are the issues as I see them:
  • We can't really give good dosing advice until you have some data logged on the spreadsheet. We look at a dose in its context of BG numbers in the cycles prior to that dose, not only the actual BG just before you feed and shoot.
  • You can get someone on here to set up your spreadsheet for you very quickly. @Marje and Gracie is one of those people.
  • Warming his ear with the rice sock heated in the microwave can make the ear poking go so much better. Strongly recommended!
  • The testing routine we use here is: 1. test AM and PM before feeding and giving insulin (no food at least 2 hours beforehand so it doesn't affect BG) to see whether the dose is too high; 2. test once or twice in the +5 to +7 time range to see how low the dose takes the BG; 3. do a before bed test when you can manage it and extra on weekends if you work away from home week days.
