its 3 a.m. (+5) and Buddy woke me up crazy meowing, which i know by now no time to test first, that sound means he's dangerously low.
So i feed him 1 can of grilled FF (3 oz) and 2 raw rabbit nuggets(2 oz) --gulps it down in 10 seconds.
I test him and he's 41....more food and he's 45.Now i can rest and will test him again shortly.
Wow this fd is a real roller coster ride, huh? So now my boy has earned a reduction, ...He was at .30, now
guess we're down to .20? I'm hoping someone will confirm dose by the amps-thanks.

Definitely a dose reduction...and .2u sounds good.

What a good boy he is for waking you up. I wonder how low he was. Could be he wasn't, yet, dangerously low. My guys have both been in the 30s and only acted very hungry like that. But every cat is different.

I don't consider 40s on Levemir "dangerous" like with a faster acting insulin. They should be monitored and the reaction you saw of him meowing to wake you up is a sign he could feel the low and knew he needed food. That is also why I like to always have food available midcycle because some cats can overcome a low on their own via food. Usually it only takes some regular carb food, not a bunch of high carb. But if he was that hungry, you did the right thing!

With your syringe confusion, if he was getting 1.3U and had those 40s, then you might want to drop back to 1U.

Buddy was geteting those #'s on 1.30, i dropped him to .75 to have room to move up, i thought thats what you and others wd. do.... but he is in 300's past 2 days...do you think i should move him up to 1u now?
