Bradley has been off insulin for a few days now. HIs sugar has been in the two-digit numbers consistently and I am so happy about that! I feel like I have my cat back. He is super active again and just looks so good and spunky. Anyway, his sugar has been on average in the 80s and even at 62 at one point. This PM, I tested and it was 58. Since he's not on insulin, I know he can't go hypo, but I read that between 70 and 100 is normal but I also read anywhere from 50 up is great news as that is the nondiabetic range. Is this true?

My question is is 58 too low, or is that a good number? I guess I'm so used to him being on the high side so I'm not used to numbers like 58.

Big yay for Bradley! So very glad to hear he is doing so well. Go Bradley!!! Be sure to put him on the recent remissions page near the top in another week or so. I think the thinking is 2 weeks OTJ.

From what I've read, normal BG for a non-diabetic kitty can range from 40-120, so Bradley is right in that normal range (did I already say yay? yay again!). Max a couple weeks ago got a 55 OTJ, which I did a double take on, but it was all good.

It's funny how when it is so much lower than we are used to, we then question it

So, if they're not on insulin, they can never drop too low in the dangerous levels, is that right? I'm hoping there is never a fear of hypo when not on insulin.

Thanks for the cheers! Cheers to Max, too! He sure is a handsome little kitty.

It is definitely a shift in thinking when they start getting low numbers all on their own. I would even double check with a second test, thinking it couldn't be right, but it was. My understanding is that a kitty cannot go hypo when not on insulin. So you can just be happy for terrific #'s and an active cat. Max has been super active too. Does our mama hearts good to see out kitties acting like their old selves again. I know I am biased, but I do think Max is a handsome devil too. Thank you.

Hi there,
I will tell you that Shakes has been diabetic since last year...
I was worried about his sister last week because she was drinking alot of water all the time..
so last night I grabed her and checked her number..2 hours after she ate
Her number was 58...
so yes 58 is a great number and non diabetic!!
CONGRATS!!! and ENJOY!!

Denise and Shakes

Yay! I'm excited for you & Bradley!
