I think the bouncing may have stopped.... but it could also be because he isn't eating as much as I'd hope!
I'm trying to keep really good track of everything. Our vet suggested we still feed him some dry kibble since that is all he will eat and then attempt to switch over to wet slowly. (I have Weruva Truluxe of all varieties being shipped to us as we speak! As well as Cats In the Kitchen canned) However, right now he is very picky about the wet food and will only nibble on it throughout the day. I just started taking his weight. We will do it every night. He is currently getting approx 100 calories of dry kibble each day. I'm really tempted to give him some Fancy Feast, even though it is a little higher in phosphorus just to make sure he gets in his calories!

I think I'm going to continue to be nervous until I can confirm he isn't losing weight (via our new scale).

Another option for you to consider with the food is to use a phosphorus binder for the Fancy Feast....if he's willing to eat that, it's one way to make it so the high phosphorus isn't hurting things.

That's a great idea. At his bloodwork one week ago his phosphorus was in the normal range. He has another checkup in 3 more weeks. If I start feeding FF, do you think I should get a checkup earlier than 3 weeks? I wouldn't want it to sky-rocket and cause damage suddenly and us wait too long.. ya know?

I don't really know, but I don't see how 3 weeks could make that big of a difference

You might want to start a new thread with something like "Need help with phosphorus binders" and use the ? prefix and see what those that have more experience with them have to say

I still find it really weird that some cats don't like wetfood. I've had some cats in my 'career' and they all loved wetfood! Hope you can get him to eat fancy feast.

This is really a mystery why some cats are so finicky eaters! I had two brothers Rocky and Pippin and Rocky would eat everything in sight and Pippin would eat well one day and not touch the same food another. And they were ALWAYS like that so Rocky would eat anything (I mean anything) and stealing food in the kitchen, so many times I found him with his head in the saucepan with mashed potatoes or broccoli or even raw vegetables like green beans (his favourite)! It is so easy with him in this respect as I can put any supplement in his food and he eats without a problem. He always leaves his plate clean! The only time he did not eat was when I put some milk thistle herbal powder in his food, it is apparently quite bitter.
I think that when we get kittens we are told by the vets to feed them dry kibble for kittens and they develop taste for it early in life and don't "learn" to eat wet food and don't even want to eat raw meat which is a natural thing for them. I started my kittens on home made diet early on but unfortunately I did not have the knowledge and didn't do it properly and Pippin got ill from unbalanced cooked food. The vet told me to change his diet to proper cat dry food which I did and it helped and I could see how my cats were really hooked on dry. But I wasn't happy feeding them that so I slowly introduced more raw meat and phased out kibble, only to give it to them occasionally. In the end I started feeding Rocky only raw food based on dr Pearson's recipe even before he became diabetic. Pippin wasn't with us anymore (but it is another story).
So I think dry food has all the very concentrated flavours which make that really irresistible for kitties.
I wonder if there is more scientific explanation somewhere on the subject of finicky eaters!
I hope more people will join the discussion as I find this subject very interesting.
