Is Puddin bouncing from an increased dose? This is the second day at the increased dose of 2.5u as well as the addition of water to his meals. Strangely, his mood does not correlate to his BG numbers! It's almost a letdown but I'm so happy to see him showing an interest in toys again and even sleeping in his normal places (as opposed to hiding). He's the best he's ever been on this diabetes journey - which I'm almost solely attributing to the addition of water to his meals because he's averaging the highest he's ever been since I started testing...it doesn't make sense to me. Could this be bouncing? Can bouncing last for two days?

@Wendy&Neko in response to your wonderful response to me yesterday; I certainly feel more confident asking for the Acromegaly and IAA test especially since my vet seems to have the next course of action to be that I see a specialist. Thank you for giving me some confidence in asking for the test; I will call him tomorrow.

Also, thank you for suggesting the addition of water directly to his food; it seems to be providing him a lot of relief!

No. You need to give the dose 6 cycles to see the response to the current dose. If you don’t see blue or green you would then increase again. Bouncing can last for up to 6 cycles. I just did not see him dropping lower than he’s used to and then bouncing. I think you have not hit a breakthrough dose yet.

Ok, thank you for clarifying your response. If this is not a "bouncing" response, why are his numbers MUCH higher with this new dose?
 
Also worth noting: "Many cats will occasionally react to an increased dose with increased BGs - within the first 2 to 3 days after an increase, usually lasting for less than 24 hours. Nobody really knows what the reason for this phenomenon is (perhaps a "panicky liver"?) - hold the dose and ignore the fluctuations."
 
The phenomenon Elise it talking about is something we call New Dose Wonkiness (NDW). More explanation here: New Dose Wonkiness (NDW) and failed reductions

Is it possible for you to switch your last PM test to a +2 test? A +1 test will mostly show rising numbers because he's just eaten, but a +2 test can be a better indicator of how the cycle will go. With my cat, I actually had to do a +3 test.
