Bounce or Somogyi

I'll admit that I haven't quite managed to grasp the distinction between the two, though I've seen it said several times here that there's no evidence that the Somogyi effect actually happens in cats?

From your spreadsheet, it does look as though Puffy bounced from that 80 yesterday, although I've never actually seen that happen from a low AMPS before (and with so many green AMPS values, it really makes me wonder what those overnight cycles are looking like in more detail ... I wonder if you can find a time to do a full curve?)

I think this calls for someone with much more experience to give you any really helpful insight. @Wendy&Neko @Sienne and Gabby (GA) @tiffmaxee

I agree your cat bounces from being under 100. There is no evidence that Somogyi exists in cats. That usually stops if a cat surfs in better bg. You are increasing too often. You want to hold a dose for at least 3-5 days before increasing. Once you start seeing green hold at least 5 and see what happens. Some cats take that long to see what a dose does for a cat.

in the last few weeks, I have been holding the dose for at least 5 days. Before that, i've been playing with the dose too often, but I am learning to shot low to stay low, and some other things. And this TR method, I am getting used to it, but it takes time . You say I should hold when green, but then it goes back to high numbers, especially in the evenings. When and how do I know it's time to increase ?

Yes it takes time to feel comfortable shooting low but you will get the hang of it. The bounce from yesterday looks to be clearing already today. Often there is a high before it clears but not always. Bounces take from 3-5 cycles to clear generally. At that point if still high an increase is fine. If not sure just post and ask. Looks like you could increase to 4.75 tomorrow unless you see lower green.

Danny -
In general, with TR, the dose is held for 3 days/6 cycles. It may be held a bit longer if your cat is new to lower numbers.

My hunch is that it's not so much that Danny bounced from the 80. Unfortunately, we haven't a clue where Danny's number were +3 during the PM cycle on 3/18. They had to have dropped in order for him to have the 80 on the following AMPS.
