I bought Lantus for Gobi. Should I start him at the same dose as the Humulin N or start at 1 unit and work up as needed ? Also the box says to discard the insulin 23 days after opening, is that for real? Thank you all for your input.All of you and the board have helped us a lot.

Yes, start at no more than 1 unit twice a day and slowly increase the dose as needed based the bg curves you do at home.
The 23 or 28 day thing is for Human diabetics who use much more insulin than a cat. A Lantus pen can last to nearly the last drop for a cat. The 10 ml bottle may last a few months, tops.
