F [H's brother] has IBD and is being treated with B-12 [cyanocobalamin] injections. Also just got the report today that he has a degenerated spinal cord [without compression]. He is having weakness in his legs. F is NOT a sugar kitty. It dawned on me that this weakness in the legs sounds similar to diabetic neuropathy and perhaps to give Methyl-B12 a shot.

Does anyone have experience giving both B-12 and methyl-B12 here? Is there any any known potential harm in giving both? Any cautions that anyone can think of before trying this? Am I being silly in marrying the idea of diabetic neuropathy and the issues from a degenerated spinal cord? Any other input/suggestions?

Thanks!

A while ago there was a thread on use of the two different B12. B-12 (cyanocobalamin) is not found in nature converted in the body to the Methyl form of B12. Some articles said that since now B12 (cyanocobalamin) is so cheap one could just give large doses of if instead of using the methyl form. However, since B12 is water soluble, you really can't overdose it.
