I'm am sorta freaking out-Bootsie is doing great on senvelgo and it is so easy. Two days ago, I discovered he has a lump on his lower lip--at first I thought his tongue was hanging out if that gives you an idea how it looks. Any ideas? I see something called rodent ulcers and of course mouth cancers online --both of which look pretty awful. Does anyone on selnvelgo know what happens if they have to surgery? Insulin during surgery and then we can't go back to senvelgo? Can they take antibiotics? Anyone had them on steroids or immunosuppressants? The vet can see him on Tuesday and "we are learning together". I am so afraid I will miss something and hurt bootsie. Not knowing is hard. Any advice?

My vet has Electra scheduled for a dental cleaning (and possible extractions) and she didn't want us to stop Senvelgo until after the surgery. Dentals are done when the cat is under anesthesia like a surgery, and often requires some healing of the gum tissues, so I think it would be similar circumstances. Electra is also on cyclosporine at the same time as her Senvelgo, which might be the source of her inflammation in gum tissue, but it has not affected her diabetes as far as we can tell after almost three months. We are also learning as we go though.
Thank you so much! Sounds like they will/can just give senvelgo pre op and not switch to insulin--such good news! cyclosporine instead of cortisone. Thank you for responding and-let me know how electra does.

I think the hardest part of having a cat on one of these newer treatments is that we can't fall back on years of other people's experience, advice, and documentation for how things work and what to do in emergencies. I hope that our experiences will help others in the future so that new protocols can be developed, practical advice can be shared and our documentation can make someone feel more secure about the test results they are getting when starting out.

I hope it helps future users - it is very scary at times....seeing yours helps me get thru it. It is so new to vet too that I don't get much support there. They did say it was unlikely the bump is related to the senvelgo.\
Bootsie at vet today-- has had the bump for 6 days now and it is down some. Vet not sure what it is, but for now just gave the long acting antibiotic shot and said come for recheck in a week. If doesn't go away she wants to biopsy it. praying it goes away. Only change I have made is ditching the plastic bowls..( I had no idea). I hope that is the end of it. Bootsie has finally quit loosing weight--gained just a little. ..His diabetes doc won't be happy..
Good idea on the bowls! Pookey gets the bumps on his chin area, like cat acne. He has one right now that’s been there for a long time. The vet put some pressure on it and it actually released a little later that day. Otherwise his normally go away on their own, just keeping it clean occasionally.
