I took Boots tonight to be put to sleep. After she got her teeth cleaned, she just never really recovered. Two months later, the beginning of April,
I took her in to the vet because her appetite started to weaken. She loved food, so I knew something wasn't right. She was diagnosed with
abdominal cancer and it was a very fast growing cancer. She was put on pain meds, nausea meds. and appetite stimulator. The
drugs gave her a little more quality time, more than she would have had.

She had a good life and adapted so well to being poked and prodded. She was playful and young to the very end. We had one last pick a boo
moment even today. cat_pet_icon

I just wanted to thank you guys for all your support and kindness. Without
you she would not have lived 17 glorious years. We came on this board what would have been 5 years this Oct. Boot's blood sugars only
this last month started to climb. For the almost 5 years of being on insulin, she was on 1/2 U twice daily. The last two weeks she increased to 1U.
Not bad, thanks to a great education from this board.

I know I haven't always been consistent on here, but you were all still here for me and Boots anyway.
Thank you
Shelly

(((Shelly))), I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. You were a great mom to Boots and I'm glad she was feeling pretty good to the end.

Fly free sweet Boots and land softly. There will be many kitties to greet you at the bridge. wings_cat

Thank you so much Wendy,
The amazing thing was she wasn't feeling good, but right after I called the vet and made the appointment, she came down stairs and we had a moment.
I'd doubled her pain med today because of her being so uncomfortable. I think it helped. She was having more bad days
then good and I knew it was time. The mass in her stomach was huge and even getting her reg. shot of insulin made her cry.
I think it was pressing against her nerve endings.

((((((((((Shelly)))))))))) I'm so sorry.
Boots loves you and is playing at The Bridge
and will be waiting for you when you get there one day.

I am so, so sorry for your loss. It sounds like you're at peace with your decision as you should be. I hope thinking of Boots will always make you smile.

Fly free little one and land softly. There are many who are at the Bridge who will keep you safe and be your playmates until you are reunited with the one you love best.

I'm glad you and Boots had that last special moment. She lived a glorious 17 years and I'm sure she had a wonderful and love-filled life with you. It is very sad when our kitties have to leave us, but you were so kind to avoid letting her suffer. (((((Shelly))))) My heart and thoughts go out to you.

Fly Free, Boots! The pain is over and you can be your happy playful self at the Bridge!

(((((Shelly))))) Boots could not have had a better bean than you, being so in tune w/ her and letting her go when she was ready to leave.

For Boots and Family,I lost my Harley like that
BEYOND THE RAINBOW

As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade

I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.

I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, an on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful - lush and green and wide
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do
I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright glow pierced the night
"Twas the glow of many candles, shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in it's brilliant shades of gold.
For although we may not be together in the way we used to be
We are still connected by a cord no one can see
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost a kitty to abdominal cancer too and it is very painful to watch. My heart aches for you.

Fly Free Sweet Boots...Land Softly.

(((Shelly)))
So sorry to hear of Boots' passing. She had an amazing life with you and you two were truly connected to each other. She told you when it was time and you gave her the gift of letting her go, and letting the pain go away. She is free from all pain and in a wonderful place with all of our GA kitties, including my Boots that also lived 17 years.

May you know that in your heart you gave your beautiful girl so many years of wonderful living. Hugs.

((Shelly)) Blessings to you and blessings on sweet Boot's soul. May she continue to watch over you from beyond the Rainbow Bridge! Fly free, dear Boots. wings_cat
