Boots - Dose advice

Hi All!

Boots tested at 194 AMPS, I shot 2 units and fed 50/50 FF and w/d wet for breakfast. She just tested at 118 PMPS and is having the same dinner. Thoughts on dosing this evening?

Thanks

For next time (no worries, every one does it), do NOT feed, and wait 20 or so minutes and see if she is coming up on her own. Any test now is food influenced. But I would still stall and test in 20-30 minutes to see what is happening.

First some questions, can you monitor tonight? Have plenty of test strips?
.

I'm totally confused. I came home from work, tested her (118) and fed her dinner. I haven't shot any insulin yet. Is 118 low??

118 is not dangerously low, you could have waited without feeding. We usually get people to gradually used to shooting lower numbers. If you shoot a 118, you may have a busy night of testing. Or not, could be bouncing. That is what the next test might help us determine.

Okay, so I tested again 90 minutes post dinner, NO insulin, and she's at 79? Why is she going down after eating?

She may have a sputtering pancreas, that is kicking in occasionally and the food triggered some of her own insulin to be produced. She is still in a safe range. But I'd still get a test before bed, to make sure she doesn't drop below 50. You still have some depot of the higher dose helping to bring her numbers down too. Don't forget to keep the spreadsheet updated.

Good plan on not shooting. I am curious to see where she'll be in the morning.
