Bobbi asked me in a private conversation about her low amps. Her post is here:

This morning at test time he was 159. I waited 20 mins, retested him and he dropped to 156. So I fed him cause he is starving. Should I retest 1 hour later? And what if he stays under 200 I should give him 1/2 the amount I was giving him?

Bobbi, first, this is great news! I would not give insulin unless he rises to at least 180 and then maybe half your previous dose. Good instincts you are developing!

Thanks Sue! After he ate and one hour later he went up to 257. I gave him 1.00 u, his previous was 1.5.Hopefully that was not too much. I will retest in a few hours an keep a close eye on him.

PS The hour delay messed up our 12 schedule. How can I get him back on his 6A - 6p shot schedule?

You can work your way back to your chosen times 15 minutes per cycle...so if your normal times are 6/6 and you shot at 7am, tonight's shot can be at 6:45pm

I would prepare for a bounce. If he was at 156/159 12 hours after the previous shot, he might have been lower overnight and he might bounce up to a higher number for Pmps. Even if he is higher than usual tonight, I would still shoot a little less than last night.

Okay thanks, this will be challenging because he is used to eating a bit before 6m and 6p with the shot following.

Bouncing already! I tested him 2 hours after the insulin and he went up to 313! He has only had 1/3 of his daily food so far.

You could feed him part of his meal 2 hours before his pm test. And with ProZinc, you can shoot 30 minutes earlier IF you are sure he is rising and above 200.

He might be a cat who bounces early and then goes back down for the rest of the cycle. It'd be interesting to see what his pattern is.

Yesterday I tested him 2.5 hours after his am shot because I had to leave the house all day, and he dropped 102 pts. You weren't kidding when you said this was a sugar dance.
