Blue buffalo has a new cat food out, grain free and has "Low Carbohydrates" written on the bag.

However. it's Not ! It is almost 20% carbs. They say it's lower than their other stuff..that's what they mean.

BB uses "As Fed" values, but they use carbs as a percent of the product and not percentage of calories from carbs.

I don't what the actual comparative difference is and leave that to those who now how to jiggle the numbers.

I think this is the math.
% carb * 100 = grams carb in 100 grams of food
% protein * 100 = grams protein in 100 grams of food
% fat * 100 = fat carb in 100 grams of food

and

grams carbohydrate * 3.5 = calories of carbohydrate
grams protein * 3.5 = calories of protein
grams fat * 8.5 = calories of fat

sum calories

divide carb calories by total calories and multiply by 100 to get % carb calories
ie
carb calories / total calories * 100 = % carb calories
