Blu had a dental - flaked or gravy food recs?

poor Blu had an extensive dental. I think three full extractions and 9 where they removed the crown and sutured the gums over, as he has resorptive teeth issues. I think all or most of his canines were involved, so he is very sore. He will not eat his usual FF classics because he can't really grab a bite. I've been giving tuna but that's not a good thing to keep giving him. I know flaked and gravy foods are high carb usually, any soft, liquids foods that are diabetes friendly that I can buy at a grocery or petco?

The Clindimycin is a nightmare, too. He hates it so much. He whimpers. Poor guy. Luckily I've been able to put the Onsior for pain in a bit of tuna and he is getting it down. The only gave me three days worth. I think I may call for more. How long should I expect him to need pain melds after this fairly extensive dental? He is hiding under the bed which he never does. He will come out for food and water and a snuggle but then hides again. Can't wait for him to feel better.

These are for you and here's a gentle one for the kitty Our little guy had surgery on Friday last week with several extractions and he was pretty sore and uncomfortable too. Our vet gave him Onsior to control the inflammation too. Radar hid a lot at first which we guessed was an indicator of pain and just not feeling good. Radar has been happiest eating baby food because it can be licked up easily -beech nut is the brand and they have turkey and chicken flavors. Be sure it has nothing but the meat - no onion or garlic. Radar could eat a jar at a time. As he started feeling better I got PureBites chicken at PetSmart in the dog food aisle where it's cheaper. I cut the pieces of chicken up with scissors and then Rehydrated them in warm water. They get nice and mushy and easy to eat. At first Radar wanted to eat out of my hand instead of out of his dish... Poor little guy. It will be one week tomorrow and I would say that he's been acting much more like himself just today and the eating is much more normal too. This is so helpful to hear, thank you! I will give the baby food a try. It is horrible to know they are hurting, isn't it?! Okay, one week till I can expect him to start feeling himself again. That will be Tuesday. I guess I'll know, too, when he stops hiding. I just wish I could tell him it will be better soon! He still wants his snuggles which makes me feel better. He's such a sweetie that when I picked him up the vet let me take him out of the carrier to give him a pet and he was in my arms in a flash with head butts, sore mouth and all. Okay enough gushing about him, thank you again. I'm glad Radar is on the mend and getting back to his normal self. I'm sure even in the midst of the discomfort he enjoyed all the gentle attention you gave him!

I'm glad to offer you a little comfort, Tanya, by sharing some experience... Of course every cat is different so it's possible that your little one could take longer than Radar has needed to recover or perhaps a shorter amount of time. ??? You know your kitty and how he is normally... You will know if he's improving at an acceptable rate or if you need to get some more support from the vet in the coming days.

He might be a little better today. He was not hiding when I came home from the vet. I did get the plain chicken baby food and mixed it with some of his usual FF classics, and he ate it right up. He has been eating more - it seems- since his dental. Also stopped at the vet and got some Buprenex for his pain, but after he ate he hid again, so I'll wait till he ventures out. I read through your posts about Radar's dental, and your observations seem similiar to what I am seeing with Blu. At least I can feel as if everything is going as it should. Thank you so much - it's just so nice to have someone writing who has 'been here, done that'
