I bought the Blood Sugar Gold when Rex was first diagnosed. I tried it for a while. at first I thought it was helping, but then it seemed almost like it was making it worse. or something was making it worse. His insulin was not being correctly dosed at this time either, so... but bottom line - I was not impressed. occasionally, I will still put a drop or two in one of his water bowls, but don't really use it regularly. Of course that is just my experience, and they are all different, so your experience might be completely different. for me, in the beginning I was very determined that I was not going to have to rely on insulin to get Rex better. ultimately though, I read a post - probably on this site - that finally convinced me that insulin was really the best and only option for improvement. it said that in order for the pancreas to be able to heal, it has to have help with the insulin so it can rest. when I read that it finally sunk in. from that day forward, I had no qualms about using the insulin. it also explained that the insulin is a hormone in the body, so I was not necessarily injecting a "foreign" substance but actually a hormone that his body just was not producing or using properly and his pancreas was being stressed/strained because it was trying do hard to get the job done. since then we have properly adjusted his insulin dose and he is doing wonderfully! :)

hope that is helpful.

I get it on Amazon, not cheap for 2oz. Not sure if it helping at all but I do use it once a day in the eve along with 1/2 capsule of PetAlive GlucoEnsure once a day in the morn. I figured it can't hurt?

Thanks I called and talked to the vet there she said Amethyst could safely take it. Just have to find a way to budget it in:oops:

I spoke to my vet about this product after discovering it while browsing the internet researching.....
.....My vet looked at the ingredients & found root based additives which she said are extremely harmfull for cats - toxic even so she advised me to stear well clear of using this with Jack.
Im no expert - she is so I took her advice & didnt buy the product.

That was my exact thought after hearing what she told me....Im shocked it is actually allowed to be sold as an aid for cats with diabetes when it could cause other serious issues for them.....I'll try researching it more & get back to you with my findings.
:)

Im sceptical of my vets advice you see after reading all of the reviews online of this product:
https://www.petwellbeing.com/products/cat-diabetes

Need to be sure myself 1 way ot the other but for the time being Im not going to use it just in case the vet's advice is correct.

;)
I know I even talked to their vet at Pet Well Being and she promised me it was safe But Amethyst is so many other meds I am afraid of a reaction. I know their some parents here that are using it right now.But I am still afraid of adverse reactions:oops:
