Yes I’m in the uk.
Tibby is 19y was diagnosed on 3rd June, went to the vets last week they said she now has low blood sugar and stopped her insulin, she is having a urine check on Thursday to check if it’s changed again.
 
Yes you can use a human meter to home test. Many of us were using human meters long before someone got the idea to sell "pet" meters and charge extra for them.
 
Just done her first home reading since they stopped her insulin and after her meal and it was 7.8mmol

Be sure to click the 'Save Changes' button at the bottom. If you need help urgently it is important we know these things at a glance. We don’t want to waste valuable time finding out information.
 
You might also want to set up a spreadsheet, we use this to track our cats BG numbers. It's at the end of everyone's posts. That 7.8mmol (140 US #) isn't bad but
I wouldn't say that your cat is in remission

If you need help setting it up we have 2 members who will help you
 
normal on a human meter is 50-120
On a pet meter, it's 68-150
We consider remission when they stay between 2.8 to 6.7 (on a human meter) or 3.8-8.3 (on a pet meter) with most of the numbers under 5.5 (6.7 on pet) for two weeks with no insulin.
