can anyone on this here forum tell me what a blood curve test is and can i do it at home?

It's very simple, basically you are trying to find out how the insulin effects you cat throughout the day. You test before you give insulin and then at least every 2 hours afterward until it is time to give your next dose of insulin.

If you look at my speadsheet link in my signature you can see how I did most of a curve yesterday. I had to be away in the am so tested at 2 and 5 hours after my Fern's AM dose not every 2 hours. When he dropped in the 100s I started testing every hour because I wanted more information about his low.

A curve is taking a BG measure before shot and then every two hours and the one before the next shot.
Most of us caretakers here do our own curves at home. Better than at vet since vet stress can raise BG 100 or more (USA( points).
Most of use use a human meter like Walmart's Confirm or Confirm Micro. There are also Pet meters like the AlphaTrak that are more accurate but strips cost about $1 each. The added accuracy is not needed.

You most certainly can do a curve at home. Just follow the advice given above by @Ferndoc and @Larry and Kitties. Your curve will likely give more accurate results than one done at your vet's office, as most cats get pretty stressed when they're at the vet and blood sugar readings can rise as a result of that stress. It would be really helpful if you could set up a spreadsheet for your kitty. That way, you can record your BG test results and more easily visualize how your fur baby is doing. Instructions are HERE. Once you've set up your kitty's spreadsheet, others here will be able to look at it and offer advice if you need it.

Yes, agreed! I had quite a time when I first set up Hannah's spreadsheet. If I'd paid better attention to the instructions, I could have saved myself a lot of aggravation.
