After being in critical care for 2 days, Maria was only getting worse....they told me she had seriouis heart disease and lungs filling with fluid on top of the diabetes. She was in an oxygen tent, breathing very hard and in obvious distress. The vets said they could keep going and trying to treat her, but she was going to be very hard to get back to a quality life.

So, I decided that I needed to put her out of her misery.

She was the sweetest cat in the world, and, before she showed signs of diabetes, was still so playful at the age of 11.

I will miss her terribly!

Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes.

Ilene

I am so sorry to hear about Maria, Ilene. It must be difficult because she got so sick so suddenly. I hope it helps to remember that she, unlike some many kitties in the world, had a loving, caring mom, a warm and loving home with delicious food to eat. A lucky, lucky kitty.

Dear Ilene, so sorry to read about Maria. May your memories of how much she loved you and how deeply you loved her comfort you. May she alight on your shoulder and keep you company. She knows you did what was right for her and I'm sure she would like you to take comfort in that.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and Maria,

Sophie

I am so very sorry for your loss. It is so hard to lose them. It sounds like she had a wonderful long life with you. Sending many cyber hugs. Maria is flying free now, whole and healthy over the Rainbow Bridge. rb_icon

I am so sorry for your loss of sweet Maria. I hope in time your loving memories will ease your pain. Maria is no longer in pain, but she is waiting at the rainbow bridge, playing and whole once again. And she will always be in your heart. I'm sendng prayers of peace and comfort for you.

My sympathy to you, Ilene. Eleven years seems like such a short time, doesn't it? I am sure you have lots of memories of Maria to carry with you in your heart.
