After being in critical care for 2 days, Maria was only getting worse....they told me she had seriouis heart disease and lungs filling with fluid on top of the diabetes. She was in an oxygen tent, breathing very hard and in obvious distress. The vets said they could keep going and trying to treat her, but she was going to be very hard to get back to a quality life.

So, I decided that I needed to put her out of her misery.

She was the sweetest cat in the world, and, before she showed signs of diabetes, was still so playful at the age of 11.

I will miss her terribly!

I am so sorry for your loss of your sweet Marie, and I hope your wonderful memories of the good times you shared will be of comfort to you in the sad days ahead. You gave her the final gift of love that we mere humans have to give our lovely furbabies. Marie isn't really gone you just have to hug her differently now. She will always be in your heart and memory. She is running free now at the Bridge where she will wait until the day you are both together again.

Fly Free Sweet Marie and land ever so softly back in your momma's heart.

I am so sorry for your sudden loss of Maria. There is never enough time with them. You made the right decision for her and she's in a better place because you were compassionate to end her suffering.

Bless you for doing the best thing for Maria, even though I know it was so incredibly hard to let her go.

I'm sorry this had to happen so quickly, but she did not suffer. You acted in her best interest.

I am so sorry you lost your girl today, that she took a sudden change for the worse. I hope that the good memories will stay with you or her playfulness and happy days you shared.

Oh (Ilene)....I'm so so sorry to read this and am sad to know your heart is breaking. I was thinking about you last night and wondering how things were. This has been so quick. If there's any light in this, it's that she didn't spend time suffering and that for the 11 years you knew her, her days were playful and filled with love.
