Hi Ele,
While I'm sorry Blackie has confirmed pancreatitis, now you can help him recover. Gandalf's value was 28, which the vet called a whopping case.
How much buprenex did he receive? Gandalf is 14 pounds and he can have .3cc as often as every 8 hours, basically as needed. Maybe Blackie needs less so it won't make him loopy. Perhaps others can recommend a different pain killer, as it is important for pancreatitis cases to be treated for pain.
There is some disagreement over whether fats in food aggravate pancreatitis for cats. I decided to err on the side of caution and got the lowest fat foods I could find, which are 9Lives Tuna and egg variety and some of the Elegant Medleys fancy Feast varieties. I also fed Wellness and I stopped during his pancreatitis flares. Merrick's brand foods are also low in fat, but some cats don't like them.
I had to resort to syringe feeding and was very close to having a feeding tube put in when I received raw food from
Feline's Pride, specifically the turkey variety which is lowest in fat. His not eating resolved within 2 days of starting it and his extreme diarrhea (which I blame on the I/D food the vet had me use, though I knew better) stopped the same day! While I can't say the food cured the pancreatitis, as he has had flares since although he gets the raw nearly every day, it certainly didn't hurt. The turn around on the diarrhea convinced me it helped him tremendously.
This premade, with supplements, raw food is easy to syringe feed with this
catheter tip syringe You can get similar from your vet, but I like this one best as it lasts longer than the ones the vet gave me. I blend the raw for a minute or so to make it smoother and you could blend it with other food to make it more palatable.
Just some suggestions. The fluids are good, if you can only do 100ml, perhaps cut that to 50ml but BID. Good luck!
