Still the puzzle of Henry. Any chance he can sometimes get to those crunches without you knowing it? Sure would be an easy answer to his high and low random numbers......

Angela -

I'm impressed that regardless of how high the preshot, he's still managing to find his way to a 50% drop! I certainly know how persistent they can be about getting someone elses' crunchies! But in spite of that, to have a 200 point drop is awesome!

Hope things settle in on the home front. It's really tough to keep all the balls in the air as you juggle life's responsibilities. You're doing great!

Good Boy Henry!!! (but stay away from the kibble!!!) ;-) So good that you're not hanging w/ the boys at IHOP!

Its not common for him to get to the "crunchies". I shut up the two other boys, Kokamo and Monkey in a bedroom to eat for two reasons, to keep Henry out of dry food and because Monks will try to butt Henry out of the way to eat Fancy Feast. Very odd, Monkey I've had since 5 weeks old and he would NEVER eat canned food even as a kitten he turned his nose up at it. Hes now 9 and in the last year or so hes acquired a taste for wet food. I started feeding him some wet everyday but he still will try to eat Henry's too. I used to be able to leave food out for Henry in a regular bowl and he could graze overnight but now I can't, Monk will eat it. It even creates problems with the auto feeder so now hubby wakes up around 3 am a lot of mornings and he feeds Hen then and keeps Monkey away from his food.
Henry is always interested in the "kitty crack"; scratches at the bedroom door to be let in and he rushes in like a linebacker trying to reach the bowl before you pick it up, he pushes you out of the way, he never gets into the bowl unless someone forgets to pick it up (rare) but he scrambles after tiny bits of residue on the mat where the bowl was and growls while you are picking up pieces and the mat. Hubby said he may have forgotten to pick up the bowl before the >500 reading but it couldn't have contained over a teaspoon of dry.

Surprise:

I fed him a different food, Purina ONE canned turkey pate, this is a new food wonder if this is why hes this low so early?

I'll take it!!! That's a great number!!!

I know how Grayson is w/ the crumbs others leave. The kicker is when he tackles a cannister to the floor! Only once do I think that was a "situation" where he probably grazed... and he no doubt had helpers, although I've seen him do the growlie thing as well! Take a perfectly nice cat, give him FD, take away his kibble and watch the horns come out!!!

So I'm guessing Henry liked the food? I haven't tried too many other foods for Grayson, as I figured that was one of the variables I could control pretty tightly. Not that it's done THAT much - or that I would know if it had - but I've stuck w/ the FF. "The Gang" gets Friskies as a treat. The one time Grayson finished some that Moochie left, I saw his numbers go up considerably, so I don't let him get it.

The whole "musical chairs" thing about feeding can be very challenging sometimes. But Hope and Moochie seem to be pretty good about not pestering for Grayson's food. Paulo, on the other hand, he'd knock Grayson out for a spoonful! Needless to say, there's a lot of juggling at meal time and thereafter in my house!

Happy Saturday, Angela, Henry and the gang!

I saw that (520) and I 'eek'd' as well; I have a fear of those high numbers, probably even more than the 30's. Glad to see Henry still has nice drops even with high PS's. Wish I had an answer for you about those; we're struggling with the same thing with Hershey.

And, I soooo know what you mean about Henry scrambling for crumbs! Oreo and Hershey eat side-by-side and Hershey will sneak looks over at Oreo to see if he's finished so he can beat us to the bowl. I use those anti-bacterial wipes to police the whole area after removing Oreo's bowl and Hershey will race me to get the left-overs of what Oreo shook out of his whiskers!! :o I PROMISE Hershey is not starving or deprived or whatever, just figures what Oreo has MUST be better or something...CATS! What 'cha gonna do???

Nice +4 - Keep up the good work, Henry, and stay away from the crunchies!

Libby (and Hershey, too!)

We had to ban dry food from the house totally - even with a closed bedroom door between them I swear Robbie was going to tunnel under the door - he'd even be really NASTY to Roxie after feeding time - like he could smell the dry kibble on her breath and wanted to scare some of it out of her. Plus when I saw the difference in Robbie's coat and his eyes and everything without dry I figured "why feed it to the other cats?" I mean if dry is bad for our sugar cats... ? Plus I firmly believe it was the dry food and the steroids that tipped Robbie over into diabetes to begin with. So both are out of our lives now. HOwever we still feed Roxie the gravy Fancy Feast - she's such a skinny thing and so full of energy I want her to have some carbs to burn off - he'd slit her throat to lick off her plate - we have to lock her in the bedroom and listen to his screaming at the door until she's finished and she's such a SLOW eater - we often lock her food up in a cabinet and sneak it out to her later when he's sleeping. Its a ridiculous game but youve got to play it.

Hi Angela, I have started feeding the Purina OneTurkey also, Kitty likes it! I am yet to see a carb percentage on it, have you seen one?

Wishing You and Big HEN a Great Weekend.

How is your Grandmother?

Kim, I don't know what the carb content is of the ONE turkey pate, I contacted Purina, but have not heard anything back from them yet.
Grandma was doing well today, shes due to get out on May 11.
Robbie's Mom, I would like to get rid of all dry, but my youngest, the Ragdoll, refuses to eat any wet food and would hold out for treats or tuna.
Lou and Libby, I hate those super high pre shots, its been the thorn in my side since we started this dance, the high AM preshots.
well after that promising +4 of 189, here is how the rest of the day played out:
+6 290 huh?
PMPS 330 3.9U

Sorry about the PS :YMSIGH: seems no matter how good the cycle goes some of our kitties refuse to give up those higher PS's.

Glad to hear your grandmother is doing well.

Don't feel bad about the last batch of numbers. I got so excited last week w/ a yellow preshot. It ONLY went up from there!!! For a minute I wondered if we were back to the marathon long cycles. No tellin!

So we dance with the music - regardless of what's playing. Next cycle may be better! Don't fret over one - you get another chance to dance again in 12 hours (or 14/10!).
