? BG too low at +4??

Quick question, Dennis' BG is currently 73 at +4. He usually continues to drop through the +6 range. Should I be concerned right now???


His BG is usually very high so I have never encountered this type of situation before.
 
That was last nights entry. Apologies. I haven't been able to update the SS. he is not shaky today. His BG was 300 and he was given 4.5u (I know that's a lot but it's actually 1u less than he is supposed to be on and usually the insulin doesn't bring him down too much)

I'm not sure what those abbreviations stand for. I do have some canned Hills W/D on hand as well as some Hills Urinary S/O. Other than those, I have his normal food on hand which is canned D/M. He ate 5 hours ago right before insulin and an hour ago I gave him some more food (1/4 a can). He's still licking the empty bowl. He hoping for more food.
 
I'd give him a little more D/M and test again in 30 minutes

That 78 isn't too low, and Vetsulin usually nadirs fairly early, but we don't want him dropping below 50 on a human meter
 
MC is medium carb which would slow the drop. HC is high carb which would bring up the numbers.

Canned DM is around 7% (low carb).

What are his numbers now?
 
MC is "medium carb" and HC is "high carb"

We usually want to have a few cans of both sitting around in case we need to "steer" the numbers with a little higher carb food
 
Thanks. I'm about to test again, I'll post the number in a few minutes. I'll feed him some more too. There's no harm in feeding him TOO much right? He's always so hungry. :(

he's as 85 right now (almost at +5). I think the snack an hour ago is what brought him up just a little. In my opinion his BG will drop again soon because he usually drops until +6 and sometimes past that.
 
If you test again at about +6 and he's still doing OK without you having to feed him anymore, he's probably going to be fine for the night

You can always set an alarm to get up and check on him later if you're worried (and you'll wake to an alarm!)

Thank you! He's at +6 and his BG is at 123. I gave him another couple spoonfuls of food. I think I'll call it a night myself seeing as I have class in a few hours. Thank you for your help! I really don't know what I'd do without this group!!
