BG reading high due to fur shot

It is over 400 at +8.5. :sad: Should I give him his insulin an hour earlier? I hate to see his reading so high. It has not been over 400 since he went to the vet last week and was there with no food or insulin after 8 am when he normally gets his shot at 6:15. So, we were doing so well and now, he has had two fur shots in the last 3 doses (one was a partial and that was me and the other one hubby gave him today) so should I shoot a little early (would be an hour and 15 mins early if I give it at 5 and that is still two hours from now so I am really concerned he is going to spike REALLY high) nailbite_smile

You can shoot at +11, but then try for the next one 12 from that one. And stay with the dose. He came right back before; he will this time too. Everyone does fur shots. No problem. The best way I know to avoid them is to slow down and be very precise with the whole thing saying to yourself : I am pulling up the skin, I am pushing in the needle etc.... Would it help to cut back his fur where you have been shooting so you can see better?
 
I usually do the shot and I have only had two fur shots in the 20+ I gave him. My hubby did his second shot ever today and did not even realize it was a fur shot (we aren't even positive it was frankly) but his numbers tell me it probably was a fur shot. I don't think we need to shave him, but I do think I need to show hubby a better way cause he gets really nervous (he hates to think he might hurt his baby) and scared to shoot it cause he worries about the muscle shot possibility. (which we have never had at least not yet)

So, my two fur shots were both partials (Simon moved quickly!) and hubby's was most likely a complete fur shot. I left and jumped in the shower right after hubby and I finished the shot so I did not check (my bad and I will from now on if I am here when hubby gives the shot) well enough. Hubby felt the fur and said it did not feel wet so I took that at face value and he might have felt in the wrong spot.

Anyway, thanks for the advice. I will give it to him at 5ish and then wait until 6am for this next one. Appreciate you coming to my aid once again. Thanks!
