My 12 year old cat Kitten is on 2 units of Prozinc and usually 6 hours after her injection her bg is around 300. Today it was 147. I test with the alpha trak 2 meter which generally seems to run 100 higher than the human meters. Would this be considered too low? I really can't figure out how it relates to the human meter. But she has been steadily at 300 6 hrs after for over a month now. can't figure out why she is 147 today or if I should worry. she's lazy today and wasn't interested in kitty treats. she did vomit a bit earlier could that be having an effect.

Hi - I don't have experience with Prozinc, but I can see you are worried about Kitten. I understand from other posts that the normal range on AT is 68 - 140, so no - I don't think you need to worry unless you know she goes lower later (intervene at 68). Taking a quick look at your spreadsheet, I'm not sure of the pattern. You may want to update with a few more tests to get a sense of what is going on. If her behavior is odd, please watch her more closely (i.e. monitor eating and drinking).

Seeing lower numbers that are safe is a good thing!

:)

If you could update your spreadsheet with all the data you have to date it would help us see what's going on. The SS shows a dose of 0.5 u. When was it raised to 2 u? That BG of 147 is a big improvement over a midcycle number in the 300s.

I suggest you post on the ProZinc forum to get specific dosing advice.

147 is a good number. Pet meters are further apart from human meters the higher the number, and closer in lower ranges. On a pet meter normal range is 68-150, and in a human meter it's 50-120.

Please update your spreadsheet so we can help you easier.
