Hi all, i haven't been on here in a long time, not since shortly after Fuzz passed away in 2010. It was hard to be on here at all to support after his loss. Even now it's hard coming back almost bringing me to tears as i type, brings back all the memories.

But I am looking for the best food to feed my little civvie muffin. She is 13 now and a super picky eater it seems. She will eat half a can of something then all of a sudden snub her nose to it and not eat it except for little picks at it until i try something else. I've tried, wellness canned, evo canned, fancy feast canned, and some other natural no grain foods that i found at the pet store, at first she likes it then she loses interest and i've waisted sometimes 1.69 a can on something she won't eat. I tried giving her the wellness pouches that re chunks in some sort of sauce and of course she loves those but they are super pricy and i remember from when fuzz was sick that the gravy like products were bad for his bg. I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for something healthy that doesn't cost a fortune, or if maybe i should just suck it up and pay the high price for the wellness unless it's bad for her.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

my civvie molly was super picky on canned food, now she only eats wellness.
i opened can after can after can with her, patches would eat ANYTHING

there is instinct brand its stinky but she likes that too

i know the feeling my patches was gone on 3/5 this year...still miss him dearly

Mine (Oreo) eats Friskies Pate'. I found it's cheapest at Walmart. He's become quite a picky eater, so I keep two flavors open at a time and alternate what he gets each meal. My sugar kitty, Hershey, eats Wellness and we found it's cheaper online than in pet stores. It's nice to have it delivered to our door for free rather than using the gas that's heading toward $4/gallon. Even ordering Wellness online, it still costs more than Friskies, though.

Hope that helps -

Libby (& Hershey, too!)

Does civie like freeze dried meat treats? If so, you can try a freeze dried raw food such as Stella and Chewy's. Some brands of freeze dried raw are not complete diets so be sure to read the label. Stella and Chewy's is 100% complete. You can feed it as is or rehydrate it in water.

The Honest Kitchen has two cat formulas you can try. You can buy a 1oz sample of each from the company online store.

i don't know if she would eat that, what is it exactly just a powder? that you mix with water. how much do you feed to the cat?

The Stella and Chewy's is bite sized pieces that can be fed as is, and I am guessing adding water makes them easier to chew.
On their site, there is a chart that tells you how much to feed per day based on kitty's weight. A 10 lb cat, for instance gets about one cup per day.

Stella and Chewy is in small easy to eat pieces. The food can be rehydrated if the cat likes a softer or mushier texture. Getting extra water into the cat is always good anyways

The Honest Kitchen's food are powder. You have to rehydrate the food in water before feeding. Dry powder isn't very easy to swallow.

As to how much to feed, ECID. Both Stella and Chewy's and The Honest Kitchen have suggested feeding amounts on their web site and on the food packages.
