I'm no expert, and definitely not a vet, but it is my understanding that dental diseases such as gingivitis, mouth ulcers, and stomatitis are at least partially the result of not enough good bacteria in the gut. After years of dealing with stomatitis cats I gave up antibiotics which wipes out even good bacteria. Antibiotics did nothing for the mouth infection and inflammation. I started mine on l-Lysine and probiotics and have seen great results in a very short time. Digestive enzymes may work the same way. I am interested to see how digestive enzymes might help and plan to research it for myself right away.Holistic vet has recommended using digestives enzymes made in a paste with coconut oil for oral health. Any thoughts on this and what digestive enzymes to use( had read to avoid lactose as an ingredient) ???? Thank you in advance for help

Hmmmm...thanks ...don't want to mess with the ole BGsI kind of think that Lactose is a sugar and can effect the BG's but would like others to weigh in on that. I only used in on a non-diabetic cat.
I am really not sure of that. I do think it is a sugar and probably could effect a diabetic's numbers .Do u know if lactose is a no no for diabetic kitties
Thanks again, Bobbie .....I am really not sure of that. I do think it is a sugar and probably could effect a diabetic's numbers .

...guess I may have just ordered DH and I some digestive enzymes Right now I am using Nature's Way Fortify for humans (half a capsule each once a day), because I am out of their Gentle Digest which is sold by, I believe, Pet Well Being. I was going to order some FortiFlora next week since I've heard great things about it and that cats love the way it tastes. At any rate, The pro and pre biotics seem to make a world of difference in my cats.Which probios do u use ??
Thank you, Phyllus ....I do use forti flora and my kitties would eat cardboard if I sprinkled ff on itRight now I am using Nature's Way Fortify for humans (half a capsule each once a day), because I am out of their Gentle Digest which is sold by, I believe, Pet Well Being. Beth, there should be no LACTOSE in digestive enzymes supplement but LACTASE which is an enzyme digesting lactose might be present so don't confuse the two. Worth double checking your ingredients list. Thanks for response. Vet advised using digestive enzymes mixed in coconut oil to make a paste to brush or rub on teeth. Ordered the enzymes. I then read on the board somewherethat diabetics should avoid lactose and doggone if lactose wasn't the first ingredient on the stuff I ordered...ahhhhh
. All else fails I will take them
