When is the insulin due?Benny is recovering from DKS ( 4 weeks) He went low last night and today has not eaten much ( probably half of normal) I gave him anti nausea pill and he vomited his small dinner. Should I hold off Insulin until he has eaten something?
Was due an hour ago. Negative ketones today. He has just eaten half a can of wet food. When is the insulin due?
Have you tested for ketones today?
I think you could go ahead and give the dose of insulin. He looks like he is bouncing from the greens last night. You can always feed the curve. If he does vomit again or refuses food, you can rub honey on his gums to keep the BG up high enough to be safe. Do you feel comfortable doing that.?Was due an hour ago. Negative ketones today. He has just eaten half a can of wet food.
If it was a hairball, the problem may have gone away.Yes, I will give him the insulin. I played with him for a while and then he ate. I will feed again in an hour. Thank you @Bron and Sheba (GA) !

Yes he ate afterwards although not a lot during the night. I have the magic wand. He has a wand cat toy that he pleads with us to play with him. If I am worried about him, I move the wand. He had 1/3 can for breakfast. It is shot time 3 hours later and he is not interested. He wants to get out to eat grass. I am delaying the shot until 12 hours from last nights one until he eats again.How’s. Benny going? I see he’s still hi at +1. Is he eating Ok now and keeping it down?
Well....bit of a disaster. He got it caught in mouth and it dissolved causing lip smacking and drooling! I gave him 5ml of water by syringe to try and get rid of taste. He has now forgiven me. Eating small amounts. I gave the Mirtazapine ok though.Did you give him an antinausea medication?
It’s a pleasure to help you. We get very fond of our FD kitties and love it when we see positive progress. Hopefully Benny will come down off the trampoline soon after all those lovely green numbers. Time to get down to business again Benny!Off to the vets again today for Billy Cartrophen! Non stop cat duties! Thank you for being there @Bron and Sheba (GA) I cannot tell you how much it helps.
