alrighty hello everyone its been over a month since i've posted and a while since I've updated Bemmer's spreadsheet. I have been extremely busy with school, figuring out what i'm doing for college, and there has been a lot of family issues in the past couple of months and i'm incredibly stressed right now and have been for a while, and then I have bemmer on top of that and my mind is getting near fried. There's about a week and a half in the month of December when Bemmer's #'s were awful so I ended up switching his doses between 1.4 and 1.2, and on days he'd go low I'd go to .8 so I wouldn't have to completely skip a shot, but I never logged it so i'm just going to leave it blank because I have no clue what I gave him on each date and I definitely cannot remember it now. But so far for the last week-2 weeks he's been on 1 unit and he's usually in the 250-260 area at am/pmps time, but sometimes he'll bounce and hit anywhere from 300 to like 325. So I tried a 1.2 dose at an amps on one of these higher days and it worked good for the day but the next morning he was at like 127, so I gave him either .8 or .6(i wrote this all down somewhere so I will update the spreadsheet when I get some free time this weekend) which made him bounce, and then I just switched him back to 1 unit and he's been on that.
if he doesn't eat during the middle of the day, he will literally bounce like 50-70 pts, and then drop this much a couple hours after he is fed, so a lot of the times his midcycle is in the 200's rather than the low 100's :(
he's also been vomiting a lot of bile and hairballs with spit, his poo is mushy but still brown, hes pretty hungry all the time and drinks a ton=big pees. I guess i should up the dose again.

sorry this is so much

Welcome back, Carly. Sorrry life has been hitting you in spades. It sounds like his numbers haven't been too bad. (it would be helpful if you'd give us just a few numbers for the last few days to work with.) Maybe a little tweaking with a sliding scale would help him there.

The vomiting and poo is concerning. Have you had him to the vet for just a general check up? Does he generally eat well? Is he still eating the same food he was before - have you switched flavors or brands?

Hey :)! Thanks for the welcome
His numbers really aren't that bad hes just bounces sometimes and during the day theyre kind of high but the last couple of days are (amps, midcycle, pmps)
1/14
263
316
298

1/15
336
296
231

1/16
132 - gave .8
343
382

an no I haven't taken him to the vet for it. He been a "vomiter" since we've had him because he used to really like, inhale his food and then vomit it right after and we took him to the vet for that, and then the spit/hairballs I didn't think were a big deal either because I figured he's a cat lol but now the bile, this past week hes vomited at least 2-3, had a couple of those hairballs, and then when i wrote that up there he had vomited this bile stuff downstairs around 6 times in different spots within 5 minutes, went poop and then peed on my dad's shoe hahahah omg I was so upset and I cleaned it and he's been fine since then but that was the worst I've seen him.
but his numbers are a little weird and those midcycles, when i feed him they really do go down
hallelujah today is the last day of the semester and i just have to take my exams (SOOO relieved) ill definitely be updating the ss this week and relaxing

HEY :) sorry lol its been a while again but the spreadsheet is now updated :-D it was 2 months overdue
Some of the doses during the last part of December I guessed on because it was such a long time ago but I remember switching them a lot because his numbers kept changing so it's probably better to focus on mostly January

hey sorry I didnt forget :) I haven't done a curve for every three hours but on 2/3 I did every two hours for the beginning of the day and then after I ended up doing every four hours until pmps so maybe that might help a little? I'm planning on doing the 3 hour one tomorrow if that ^^^ doesn't give needed info soo, i will update again later :-D

It will be interesting to see if his nadir is before or after that blue yesterday, and whether he goes lower than that. Regardless, the numbers are definitely looking better.. I am guessing he would drop into well regulated numbers if you increased by a smidge. If you'll be home to do a curve, how about increasing him by a bit when you'll be monitoring. Maybe a 1.4, if you can sure get some numbers and have some higher carb food in case he drops a little low.

okay i havent really wanted to update until i got that curve but I haven't been able to get it I've been too busy and I haven't been home all day so it's been a little tough to try and do it but this week I'm going to be home pretty much for most of the day so should I get the curve or do you think I should up it to 1.4 and just monitor? I feel like I'm answering my own question, but he is peeing a ton again and constantly hungry so 1.2 isn't helping enough right? Maybe i should just up it tonight, and if he drops, which I feel like he will, should I maybe do like 1.4 in the morning or whatever time his number is higher and then do a lower dose on the next shot(when the # is lower)?

and how can I tell if the insulin is getting old? The bottle I got is almost out so I have to get a new bottle soon anyways but it looks a little cloudy, like the insulin is already mixed when I take it out of the fridge vs. when I took it out of the fridge before, there was the insulin and then the solution on top.. :?:

Cloudy is generally okay for PZI. Floaties are not.

If you will be around and can monitor and can bring him up with food if he'd drop low, I'd do the curve with the new dose. If you don't and you are right, then it'll just tell you to up the dose and you'll need another curve.
